Community rallies around veteran first responder, deputy
In his battle against aggressive cancer
By AMIE CATO-REMER EDITOR

After more than 40 years of answering emergency calls and serving his community as both a paramedic and deputy, Jimmy Carson now finds himself facing the most difficult challenge of his life—an aggressive, late-stage prostate cancer that has already spread.

Carson, widely known for his dedication to helping others in times of crisis, is preparing for months of intensive treatment as he battles prostatic adenocarcinoma, group grade 5. According to family members, the cancer has spread to his bladder and urethra, creating a serious and life-threatening situation.

As Carson focuses on his health, the financial toll of treatment has quickly mounted. Along with everyday expenses such as rent and bills, the added burden of medical costs has become overwhelming for the family.

In response, loved ones have organized a GoFundMe fundraiser titled “Support Jimmy Carson’s Cancer Battle,” which has raised $3,685 toward a $4,500 goal through 26 donations as of this week.

“Throughout his career, Jimmy has always put others first, responding to emergencies and helping those in need,” the fundraiser states. “Now, as he faces this formidable adversary, he needs the support of the community he has served so selflessly.”

Family members say Carson has been deeply moved by the outpouring of support, including donations, messages and prayers. Still, uncertainty remains as he awaits further medical results.

Carson recently underwent a PET scan in Tulsa, with results expected to determine whether the cancer has spread further.

He is scheduled to return to a urologist this week to review those results and begin additional treatment, including hormone therapy aimed at slowing the cancer’s progression.

Despite the grim diagnosis, Carson’s resilience remains strong, his family said.

However, they noted he has been experiencing significant pain as he continues the fight.

Supporters are encouraged not only to contribute financially if able, but also to reach out with messages of encouragement.

“Our goal is to help relieve some of this burden so Jimmy can focus on his health and recovery without the added worry of losing his home,” the family shared.

“Your kindness and generosity mean more than words can express.”
