Muldrow Lady Bulldogs go 4-3 on opening softball week

The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs slow-pitch softball team had a winning week to open the season last week.

The Lady Bulldogs began the week with a walk-off 5-4 win over Vian in the season opener on March 23 at home before getting a road victory over Spiro in a four-inning 15-0 rout on March 24.

The Lady Bulldogs went 1-3 in the oneday Oktaha Festival last Thursday, with the only win being a 12-0 shutout of archrival Roland after losing 7-4 to Eufaula, 10-2 to Valliant and 3-1 to Fort Gibson.

The Lady Bulldogs ended the week with an 11-3 home win over Stilwell last Friday.

In the win over Vian, the Lady Bulldogs (43) scored twice in their half of the frame on an RBI triple by Kaydence Young and an RBI single by Amaya Duran.

For the game, Young was 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs scored and a run batted in, Duran was 3-for-4 with the game-winning single, a double and three RBIs, Reagan Newbern was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Jaycie Gregory was 2-for-3 and Kynlee Thomas was 2-for-3 for Muldrow. Jaydin Dean (4-3) got the win.

In the victory over Spiro, Muldrow won the battle of the Lady Bulldogs in rather emphatic fashion as Muldrow scored nine runs in the opening inning to take control of the game early. A run in the fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Amarie Duran was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored, Aliyah Duran was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Amaya Duran doubled with four RBIs and two runs scored for Muldrow. Jaydin Dean got the win.

In the win over Roland in the Oktaha Festival, Dean tossed a nohitter.

The Lady Bulldogs scored four runs in the first inning and three runs in the second inning for a 7-0 lead. A five-run third inning put the game into runrule status.

For the contest, Young was 2-for-2 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored for Muldrow.

In the loss to Eufaula in the Oktaha Festival, the Lady Ironheads rallied from a 4-1 deficit after four innings with a two-run fifth inning and a four-run sixth inning.

In defeat, Newbern was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, Amaya Duran was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Amarie Duran was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Aliyah Duran doubled and Young doubled and scored once for Muldrow. Dean took the loss.

In the loss to Valliant in the Oktaha Festival, Valliant won the battle of Lady Bulldogs, thanks to a five-run second inning, a run in the third inning and a tworun fourth inning for an 8-0 lead. After Muldrow cut its deficit to 8-2 in its half of the fourth inning, Valiant’s two-run fifth inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Dean was 2-for-3, Young was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Haven Nickson was 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored for Muldrow. Dean suffered the loss.

In the loss to Fort Gibson in the Oktaha Festival, the Lady Tigers broke a scoreless tie with a three-run fifth inning for a 3-0 lead. The Lady Bulldogs tried to rally in the sixth inning as they scored once to cut their deficit to 3-1 but got no closer.

In defeat, Newbern singled and scored once, Amarie Duran singled with an RBI and Young, Amaya Duran and Noelia Parga each singled for Muldrow. Dean took the loss.

In the win over Stilwell, the Lady Bulldogs broke a 3-all tie with a six-run second inning. Single runs in the fourth and fifth innings put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Newbern was 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, Dean was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Young was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs, Amaya Duran was 2-for-2 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored, Nickson was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Aliyah Duran was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Muldrow. Dean got the win.
