Muldrow Bulldogs second in Roland Wood Bat Tournament, get first wins for new
By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR The Muldrow Bull-dogs baseball team ac-complished three things

The Muldrow Bulldogs baseball team accomplished three things last week.

The Bulldogs got their first wins of not only the 2026 season, but got new coach Matt Brady his first wins. The ’Dogs capped the week by coming in runners-up in the Roland Wood Bat Tournament, which was where the first two wins of the season happened.

The Bulldogs lost 1-0 to Sequoyah-Tahlequah in Saturday night’s championship game of the Roland Wood Bat Tournament after getting their first two wins of the season on Friday — beating Charleston, Ark., 10-2 and blanking Central 3-0.

The week did not start off great for the ’Dogs as they lost both of their District 4A-8 games, falling 13-3 in five innings to Poteau on March 23 at home before losing 11-1 in six innings to the Pirates on March 24 at Poteau High School’s Town Creek Park.

In the Roland Wood Bat Tournament title game, the Indians scored the game’s lone run in the fifth inning.

In defeat, Wyatt Prewett and Hayden McKinster each were 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs (2-8).

Jace Prewett (0-4) was the hard-luck loser as he struck out nine batters in six innings and threw a two-hitter.

In the tournament win over Central, Wyatt Prewett (1-0) got his first win of the season, pitching a five-inning fourhitter with 10 strikeouts.

The Bulldogs scored once in the first inning and twice in the fourth inning.

For the game,Wyatt Prewett aided his own cause by going 2-for-2 with a triple, a run batted in and a run scored, while Brody Israel doubled for Muldrow.

In the tournament victory over Charleston, the ’Dogs scored three runs in the first inning and seven runs in the fifth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Jace Prewett was 2-for-4 with a triple, four RBIs and two ruins scored, Gabe Miller was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, Jack Rhodes was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Wyatt Prewett doubled with three RBIs and a run scored for Muldrow.

Rhodes (1-1) got his first victory the season, fanning four batters in five innings.

In the first district loss to Poteau, the Pirates scored four runs in the first inning, eight runs in the second inning and a run in the third inning for a 13-0 lead.

In defeat, Miller was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Bulldogs (0-6 in District 4A-8 play).

McKinster (0-3) took the loss, but had the misfortune of his defense letting him down as nine of Poteau’s runs were unearned due to four errors.

In the second district loss to Poteau, Poteau pitching two-hit the Bulldogs, with those hits being a double by Israel and a single by McKinster.

The Pirates broke a scoreless tie with a seven- run third inning. A two-run sixth inning put the game into runrule status.

Jace Prewett suffered the loss, despite fanning six batters in 3.2 innings. Wyatt Prewett went the final 1.2 innings with four Ks.
