Funeral services for Jerry Scott Speir, PhD, 87, of Roland, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sallisaw.
Burial followed at Roland City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Speir was born on Jan. 23, 1939, in Sallisaw, to Ollie Elsie (Blaylock) Speir and James Luther Speir. He passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, in Roland.
He married Joy Ann (Poss) Speir on Dec. 28, 1982, in Eureka Springs, Ark.
He was an agriculture teacher, a U.S. Army veteran, member of the Air National Guard, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors are his wife, Joy, of the home; son, Jon Speir and Christine of Senoia, Ga.; daughters, Reveena Speir of Roland, Ramonia Fleetwood and Roger of Roland, Rebecca Speir and Mark of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Reada Hickman and Marc of Roland; step-daughter, Lisa Jude and Randy of Maple Lake, Minn.; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Devern (Allen) Speir on March 5, 1960; his wife, Luann May (Runkle) Speir on Sept. 22, 2019; his parents; son, Jared; grandson, Allen; three sisters, Jewel, Mavis and Pearlene; two brothers, James “Sonny” and Jack; and two Speir infants.
Pallbearers were Sidney Speir, Jared Fleetwood, Jacob Fleetwood, Beau Kreuscher, Dylan Kreuscher and Roger Fleetwood.
Honorary pallbearers were Austin Shook, Ryan Fleetwood, Kyle Schaubhut, Tyler Schuster, Eric Palmer, Adam Palmer and Randy Jude.
