A Roland man was arrested earlier this month after authorities said he was found in possession of material that violated the terms of the Oklahoma Sex Offender Registry Act.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Sequoyah County Sheriff ’s investigator Dwayne Frizzell, authorities were contacted on the morning of March 4 by a probation and parole officer regarding Hunter Chronister, 22, who was at the officer’s of- fice at the time.
Officials reported that the probation and parole officer alerted investigators after discovering questionable material and photographs on Chronister’s smartphone.
Frizzell, along with Deputy Rebecca Greer and Investigator Michelle Rigsby, responded to the location to review the device.
Upon inspection, authorities said the phone contained multiple nude and sexually explicit images.
While some of the images were described as “questionable,” officials noted they were not able to immediately determine the ages of individuals depicted.
After consulting with the Sequoyah County District Attorney’s Office, investigators were advised to proceed with an arrest.
Chronister was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Sequoyah County Detention Center.
Authorities also referenced a computer use agreement Chronister had signed in December 2023, which prohibits registered offenders from accessing or possessing sexually explicit material through electronic devices.
According to court records, Chronister was convicted in Sequoyah County District Court in 2023 of obscene material.
Chronister waived his arraignment and pled not guilty to the charge of failure to comply with sex offender registration act.
As of press time, Chronister has been scheduled for a March 24 criminal docket in Sequoyah COunty District Court before Associate District Judge Kyle Waters.
