Muldrow baseball team loses games to Sallisaw, Siloam Springs
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

It was a rough week last week for the Muldrow Bulldogs baseball team as they lost all three of their games, losing 9-0 to District 4A-8 foe and county rival Sallisaw on March 9 at Sallisaw High School’s “Turf of Dreams” before losing 2-0 in the rematch with the Black Diamonds last Friday at Muldrow. The ’Dogs also lost 6-3 to Siloam Springs, Ark., last Thursday.

In the first loss to Sallisaw, the Bulldogs (0-5 overall, 0-4 in district play) saw the Black Diamonds break a scoreless tie with a five-run fourth inning and a pair of two-run innings in the fifth and sixth innings.

In defeat, Gabe Miller, Jack Rhodes and Jace Prewett each singled for the Muldrow hits.

Jace Prewett (0-2) suffered the loss, going five innings with three strikeouts. Wyatt Prewett pitched the sixth inning.

Unfortunately, the game ended on a down note.

With one out in the seventh inning, Muldrow batter Hunter Horton was hit by a pitch in the face from Sallisaw relief pitcher Gunner Griffey. First responders, which included Pafford Emergency Medical Services and the Sallisaw Fire Department, arrived and gave Horton treatment for about 45 to 60 minutes, Horton was transported to a regional hospital for further treatment and evaluation.

However, Horton was back at school the very next day.

In the second loss to Sallisaw, the Bulldogs were no-hit by Sallisaw pitcher Dagan Grizzle, who struck out 12 batters. The Black Diamonds scored single runs in the first and fifth innings.

Hayden McKinster (0-2) suffered the loss, despite striking out four batters in seven innings.

In the loss to Siloam Springs, the Panthers broke a 3-all tie with a run in the third inning and a two-run fourth inning.

In defeat, Rhodes was 2-for-3 with a double and a run batted in, while Wyatt Prewett and Jackson Phillips each singled with an RBI for the ’Dogs.

Rhodes (0-1) suffered the loss, striking out two batters in three innings. Wyatt Prewett went the final three innings with four Ks.
