The Gans Lady Grizzlies slow-pitch softball team opened its 2026 season with a pair of home losses to the Leflore Lady Savages by scores of 5-0 and 7-4 on March 3.
In the opener, the Lady Grizzles (0-2) were two-hit, with those two hits being a single apiece from Nora Barnes and Brighton Dorsey.
The Lady Savages broke a scoreless tie with a single run in the second inning, twice in the third inning and two runs in the fifth inning.
Yesenia Gaona (0-1) took the loss.
In the nightcap, the Lady Savages scored six runs in the fifth inning to rally for the comefrom- behind victory.
In defeat, Makenzy Hunter was 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and two runs scored, while Dorsey doubled with two runs batted in. Barnes (0-1) suffered the loss.
Editor’s Note: The Gans Grizzlies had its road game against Mc-Curtain on March to open the season canceled due to the McCurtain Lady Bulldogs being at the Class B, Division II State Tournament.
