Central powerlifters qualify for state meet

HARTSHORNE — The Central Tigers powerlifting team competed at the Class A Regional Meet on Friday, with two members automatically qualifying for this week’s state meet in El Reno.

At 132 pounds, Riley Walters was fourth with a total lift of 620 pounds to earn a trip to state as lifted who placed in the top five in each weight division earned automatic state berths.

Oden Boston, competing at 220 pounds, earned a state berth with his fifth-place finish with a total of 895 pounds lifted.

At 220 pounds, Braxton Prewett was sixth with a total of 1,135 pounds to earn him an at-large bid to state to give the Tigers a trio of state qualifiers.

In the junior high division, Jaxton Poindexter was fourth at 145 pounds with a total lift of 680 pounds to qualify for state in the eighth-grade division.

Mason Louthan placed seventh with a total lift of 875 pounds in the 198-pound division but missed out on an atlarge bid to state.

Also placing seventh was Colby Henning at heavyweight with a total of 1,100 pounds lifted but missed out on an automatic bid to state.

At 220 pounds, Jayson Standige was ninth with a total lift of 940 pounds.

Ian Greer had a total lift of 295 pounds in the 157-pound division but did not place.

At 220 pounds, Muhammad Salar lifted a total of 690 pounds, while Grady Taylor had a total of 545 pounds lifted, but neither placed.

Matthew Berton had a total lift of 980 pounds in the 275-pound division but did not get an at-large bid.
