TAHLEQUAH — The Roland High School basketball teams ended their regular seasons on Presidents Day night with a split of road games against the Sequoyah-Tahlequah squads.
The Runnin’ Rangers got past the Indians 6342, but the Lady Rangers fell 50-24 to the Lady Indians.
In the boys’ game, the Runnin’ Rangers (20-1) led 12-10 after a quarter, 25-21 at halftime and 42-33 after three quarters, but they put away the game with a 21-9 final period to seal the deal.
For the game, Roland put a trio of players into double figures, led by Mason Kemp’s gamehigh 19 points, followed by Damonte “Bubba” Owens with 18 points and Kade Shook with 15 points. Tae Smith and Cason Perryman each scored four points, while Raidyn Knight added three points.
There was nothing reported by press time on the girls’ game. The Lady Rangers fell to 15-5.
The Roland teams got a bye into this week’s Class 3A Regional Tournament, which was slated to begin Tuesday night at the Ranger Dome, where they were to meet the winners of last Friday night’s district tournament title games between Westville and Checotah.
The rest of the Class 3A Regional Tournament will take place Friday and Saturday at Keys.
