Funeral services for Mayme Marie Thornell were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at Brushy Holiness Church in Sallisaw.
Burial was at Brushy Cemetery under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services of Sallisaw.
Mrs. Thornell was born on March 4, 1937, in Sallisaw to Willie “Sut” Bias and Eva Bias. She died on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026.
She enjoyed crocheting, writing letters, reading the Bible and attending church, and especially cooking.
She married Jimmy Thornell on Oct. 15, 1955. Survivors include four children, James Thornell and companion Susie Lockhart, Lee and Dee Thornell, Jerry Thornell and fiancée Lisa Dame, and Susan Poindexter; step-daughter, Shirley and Ronnie Roberts of Texas; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Christine Blevins; daughter-in-law, Sheila Thornell; half brother, Pete Bias; two sonsin- law, Carl Blevins and Ira Poindexter; and two grandsons.
Pallbearers were Marlin Thornell, Weslee Thornell, Westin Thornell, Gary Spalding, Jackie Phillips and Kendall Marley.
