It was a rough end to the Christmas Break for former Muldrow Lady Bulldog basketball player Kennedi “Kiki” Wight and the University of the Ozarks women’s basketball team as they are now riding a threegame losing streak.
On Dec. 30, the Eagles fell 81-69 to Millsaps at The Hanger Dome in Jackson, Miss., then suffered home-and-home losses to Hendrix College — falling 79-67 on last Friday night at Mabee Gymnasium in Clarksville, Ark., and losing 75-73 this past Sunday afternoon at Grove Gymnasium in Conway, Ark.
In the Eagles’ loss to Millsaps, Wight scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds, had an assist and recorded a blocked shot.
In last Friday night’s loss to Hendrix, Wight had a team-high and a personal season-high 23 points, eight rebounds and a steal.
In this past Sunday afternoon’s loss to Hendrix, Wight scored 15 points, grabbed three rebounds, had two steals, an assist and a blocked shot.
So far in 11 games this season, Wight is averaging 12.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 blocked shots to go with a total of seven steals.
Wight and the Eagles (5-6 overall, 0-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play) will return to action at the end of this week with a pair of games — at 7:30 p.m. this Friday against Texas Lutheran University in Sequin, Texas, and at 2 p.m. this Sunday against Concordia University in Austin, Texas.
