Brushy Wrestling Club girls win own tournament, with several members placing in last two tournaments

It has been a successful last two weekends for the Brushy Wrestling Club members.

On Dec. 27, the Brushy girls won their own tournament, the Brushy Christmas Brawl, with 148 points, while the boys were sixth with 141 points.

Four members placed in multiple divisions in their own tournament.

McKynlee Cantrell won the 115-125 pound title in the girls age 10-and-younger division and was runnerup at 125 pounds in the girls age 12-and-younger division.

Rylan Henry took first at 90 pounds in the open age 10-andyounger division, while finishing second at 9296 pounds in the open age 12-and-younger division.

Avie Lamp took first place at 68-74 pounds in the girls age 10-andyounger division, while she placed runner-up at 70-73 pounds in the open age 10-and-younger division.

Liliana Guerrero finished as the champion at 67-75 pounds in the girls age 8-and-younger division, and she was second at 64 pounds in the open age 8-andyounger division.

Four other members win titles — Hayley Bentley (girls age 15-and-younger division, 94-110 pounds, Cooper Price (open age 15-and-younger, 80-86), Layten Cross (open age 12-and-younger, 120) and Tristen Price (open age 10-and-younger, 5861).

Rocklyn Johnson (girls age 15-and-younger division, 94-110 pounds), Jessie Bentley (girls age 10-andyounger, 115-125), Kylie McInerney (girls age 10-and-younger, 55-67) and Tristen Cross (open age 12-and-younger, 100-105) all finished second.

Jericho Butler was third at 37 pounds in the age 6-and-younger division.

Ruby Johnson (girls age 10-and-younger division, 88-95 pounds), Alyvia Barrett (girls age 10-and-younger, 55-67), Paisley Edgington (girls age 8-and-younger, 5462), Ezlynn Bentley (girls age 6-and-younger, 40-46) and Grant McInerney (age 6-andyounger, 46) all placed fourth.

In last Saturday’s Rumble on the River at Gore Event Center, the Brushy Wrestling Club finished sixth with 89.5 points.

Lamp won two titles — the 74-78 pound championship in the girls age 10-and-younger division and took gold at 75 pounds in the girls age 12-and-younger division.

Henry also claimed two gold medals as he claimed the championships at 92 pounds in both the open age 12and open age 15-andyounger divisions.

Guerrero made it a third member to win a pair of titles as she claimed the championships at both 58-62 pounds in the girls age 8-and-younger division and 62-67 pounds in the girls age 10-and-younger division.

Cooper Price was the champion at 73-86 pounds in the open age 15-and-younger division.

Two more members were multiple placers for the Brushy Wrestling Club.

Pattrick Fletcher was runner-up at 92 pounds in the open age 12-andyounger division, while placing third at 92 pounds in the open age 15-and-younger division, while Cantrell took second at 115-120 pounds in the girls age 10-and-younger division and fourth at 125127 pounds in the girls age 12-and-younger division.

Tristen Price (open age 10-and-younger, 61-64 pounds), Ezlynn Bentley (girls age 6-andyounger, 37-40) and Hayley Bentley (girls age 15-and-younger, 97-102) all came in runners- up.

Barrett (girls age 10-and-younger, 6267 pounds) and Jessie Bentley (girls age 10-and-younger, 115-120) were third, while Gracie Schneider (girls age 15-andyounger, 110) was fourth.
