Keep Oklahoma Beautiful (KOB) announced the opening of the 2026 Great American Cleanup in Oklahoma, the state’s largest community litter remediation initiative. As part of the nationwide movement originated by Keep America Beautiful, the Great American Cleanup empowers Oklahomans to clean, green, and beautify their communities.
The Great American Cleanup runs from March 1 through May 31. Cleanups can be registered at www.keepok. org. Those who register by February 15 are eligible for free supplies, including safety vests, trash bags, gloves, and t-shirts, while supplies last. Supplies will be delivered free to the nearest ODOT district field division warehouse for pickup. Groups that register after February 15 can still receive supplies but will need to pick them up in Oklahoma City. The first group that registers in each county will receive a special gift from KOB.
Last year, the Great American Cleanup involved volunteers from all 77 Oklahoma counties. They collected more than 6 million pounds of litter and cleaned up dozens of community spaces. The initiative is supported by a collaborative partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.
Cleanup registrants can also indicate if they plan to participate in the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s Trash-Off held on April 18. Trash Off is an annual litter remediation event emphasizing community cleanups in collaboration with the Great American Cleanup.
KOB encourages individuals, schools, businesses, civic groups, and organizations across the state to register and participate in GAC. To register and learn more about the program, visit www.keepok.org or contact Megan Malone, the program manager, at programs@keepok. org or 405-286-9141.
