Brushy Wrestling Club members do well in last three tournaments

It’s been three good wrestling tournaments for the Brushy Wrestling Club to close out the opening month of its season for November.

At the Viking Open, which took place Saturday at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse on the Carl Albert State College-Poteau campus, six wrestlers won titles.

Rocklyn Johnson was the 102-110 pounds champion in the girls age 15-and-younger division as well as being named the Outstanding Wrestler.

Tristen Cross (age 12-and-younger division, 100 pounds), Rylan Henry (age 12-andyounger, 88-96 pounds) and Layten Cross (age 12-and-younger, 120 pounds) also claimed gold. Just a week prior at the World of Wrestling Kickoff Classic on Nov. 21-22 in Tulsa, Layten Cross was runner-up at 96 pounds.

Avie Lamp placed in three different divisions. She was the champion at 70-74 pounds in the girls age 10-and-younger division, the runnerup at 75-85 pounds in the girls age 12-andyounger division and fourth at 67-70 pounds in the open age 10-andyounger division.

McKynlee Cantrell won the title at 170 pounds in the girls age 10-and-younger division, while she was second at 105-112 pounds in the girls age 12-andyounger division.

Pattrick Fletcher also was a multiple-placer as he was runner-up at 80-92 pounds in the age 15-and-younger division and was fourth at 88-96 pounds in the 12-and-younger division.

Coming in second were Hayley Bentley (girls age 15-andyounger division, 102110 pounds) and Ezlynn Bentley (girls age 6-andyounger, 37-49 pounds).

Ruby Johnson (girls age 10-and-younger division, 88 pounds), Jessie Bentley (girls age 10-and-younger, 95-108 pounds) and Colton Cross (age 6-andyounger, 49 pounds) were third, while Paisley Edgington was fourth at 61 pounds in the girls novice age 8-andyounger) and at 58-62 pounds in the girls age 8-and-younger division.

Four Brushy Wrestling Club members competed at last Saturday’s Bixby Thanksgiving Classic.

Abel Glover (age 10-and-younger division, 73 pounds) and Isaac Glover (age 8-andyounger, 70-75 pounds) were champions, Cooper Price was runner-up at 86-92 pounds in the age 15-and-younger division and Tristan Price was third at 61 pounds in the age 10-andyounger division.

On Nov. 22 at Vian High School’s B.J. Traw Gymnasium, several Brushy Wrestling Club members placed at the Wolverine Classic.

Liliana Guerrero had her second straight three-feat performance as she won the girls age 8-and-younger, 58-65 pound and girls age 10-and-younger, 5762 pound titles, while placing third at 6164 pounds in the age 8-and-younger open division.

Henry (age 12-andyounger division, 84-88 pounds), Lamp (girls age 10-and-younger, 78 pounds), Jessie Bentley (girls age 10-and-younger, 115 pounds), Cantrell (girls age 10-and-younger, 170 pounds) and Cooper Price (age 15-andyounger, 92 pounds) also won titles for the Brushy Wrestling Club.

Hayley Bentley was the champion and Rocklyn Johnson was third at 102-117 pounds in the girls age 15-andyounger division.

Grant McInerney (age 6-and-younger division, 46 pounds) was runner-up, while Hattie Price was second and Ezlynn Bentley was third at 40-46 pounds in the girls age 6-andyounger division.

KylieMcInerney(girls age 10-and-younger division, 57-62 pounds) and Ruby Johnson (girls age 10-and-younger, 88-100 pounds) were third, while Paisley Edgington (girls age 8-andyounger, 58-65 pounds) and Tristan Price (age 10-and-younger division, 61-67 pounds) were fourth.
