More than 100 Sequoyah County families with unmet needs will observe Thanksgiving with a full turkey meal thanks to Carl Albert State College-Sallisaw Campus, in partnership with its Vista Grant Initiative.
CASC students, along with Vista volunteers, last Wednesday filled more than 100 boxes with traditional Thanksgiving food, then delivered those meals to schools throughout the county for families with unmet needs.
CASC and Vista worked with counselors at local schools to identify families in need so that the CASC/Vista efforts could bring comfort, gratitude and relief to the community for the holiday season.
The Thanksgiving campaign is an example of CASC’s efforts to be a good partner with the community, said Jaime Henson, CASC-Sallisaw director.
The meals were made possible from the following donors: Blue Ribbon Chevrolet-GMC, Firstar Bank, A.J. and Christine Henshaw, Mazzio’s, Michael Morton, Richard and LaDonna Mosby, Pam Phillips, Sallisaw Lumber, James and Leslie Serviolo, Glen Smithson, Pat and Suzanne Sullivan, and TTA Construction.
