Roland Rangers fall on Senior Night to Prague
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

It was a rough Senior Night for the Roland Rangers as they lost their home regularseason finale 28-0 to the Prague Red Devils last Friday night at Ranger Stadium.

The loss eliminated the Rangers (2-7 overall, 2-4 in District 2AI-3 play) from the postseason picture. They will finish the season with a road district game against the district-leading Kingston Redskins (8-1, 6-0) at 7 p.m. this Friday.

After blocking a punt, the Red Devils (5-4, 3-3) took advantage of the short field as they capped a 28yard drive with Keano Henley’s 8-yard touchdown run with 7:35 left in the first quarter for a 6-0 lead.

Roland’s Josh Bower picked off Prague quarterback Caden Cartmill’s pass late in the period to thwart the Red Devils, and keep the Rangers down 6-0 entering the second quarter.

The Red Devils doubled their lead to 12-0 on Kaydom Young’s 3-yard TD run with 8:27 remaining in the first half.

Just as the Red Devils were about to make it a three-score lead, Roland’s Paul Johnson picked off Cartmill at the Roland 2-yard line with nine seconds left before halftime to keep the Rangers just two TDs down at the half.

After the Red Devils got an interception near midfield midway through the third quarter, they went 51 yards in seven plays as Young scored his second touchdown on a 1-yard run with 2:10 left in the period. Cartmill’s twopoint conversion put the Red Devils ahead 20-0 going into the fourth quarter.

Young completed his hat trick as he scored one a 20-yard TD run with 8:30 left to play in the game. Henley scored the two-point conversion.

The Rangers were held to 47 yards of total offense, 26 yards rushing and 21 yards passing. Three different Roland quarterbacks each threw an interception.
