A Muldrow man was killed on September 18 when the vehicle he was riding in was struck by a Union Pacific train at a rural railroad crossing, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).
Troopers reported the crash occurred around 3:17 p.m. on East 1092 Road near East 1108 Road in Sequoyah County.
OHP said a 2000s-model passenger vehicle driven by Jacob Stimson, 19, of Muldrow, was traveling on East 1108 Road when it attempted to cross the tracks and was struck by the train.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Charles Stimson, III, 23, of Muldrow, died in the collision. Funeral services were held last Wednesday in the Sequoyah Memorial Chaabout pel of Forever Memories Funeral Services.
The driver, Jacob Stimson, was also injured in the crash. The extent of his injuries was not released.
The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Jared Sharp of OHP Troop C.
