Losses to Skiatook in regionals end softball season for Muldrow Lady Bulldogs

Two losses to Skiatook in the Class 4A Regional Tournament ended the fast-pitch softball season for the Muldrow Lady Bull-dogs.

In the regional tournament in Tecumseh, Muldrow lost both games to Skiatook in battles of the Lady Bulldogs by scores of 5-3 on Thursday and 2-0 on Friday. The Lady Bulldogs won Thursday’s elimination game 7-0 over Stilwell.

The final week of the season for the Lady Bulldogs saw them lose 8-0 in six innings to the Class 2A State Tournament qualifying Pocola Lady Indians on Sept. 29 in Pocola.

The Lady Bulldogs ended the season at 1314.

In their loss to Pocola, the Lady Bulldogs were two-hit by Pocola pitching.

The Lady Indians scored three runs in the first inning, once in the third inning, three runs in the fourth inning and once in the sixth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Raegan Newbern and Jaydin Dean each singled for Muldrow.

Dean (8-8) took the loss, going the first three innings. Kaydence Young went the final three innings with three strikeouts.

In the first regional tournament loss to Skiatook, Skiatook broke a 2-all tie with two runs in the third inning. Muldrow cut its deficit to 4-3 after four innings, but Skiatook got an insurance run in the fifth inning.

In defeat, Noelia Parga was 2-for-3 with a double, Aliyah Duran doubled and scored once, Haven Nickson doubled with a run batted in and Young doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Muldrow.

Young (5-6) was the hard-luck loser as she struck out 10 batters in six innings and threw a five-hitter.

In the regional tournament win over Stilwell, Dean threw a five-hitter with three strikeouts.

The Lady Bulldogs scored twice in each of the first two innings for a 4-0 lead, then added single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

For the game, Dean was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, Young was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Newbern was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Aliyah Duran was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, Parga was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Jaela Grayson was 2-for-4 with a double and Nickson doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Muldrow.

In the season-ending loss to Skiatook in the Class 4A Regional Tournament on Friday afternoon, Skiatook pitcher Scarlett Beeler threw a six-hitter.

Skiatook scored twice in the second inning to break the scoreless deadlock.

In defeat, Parga was 2-for-3, while Young, Newbern, Grayson and Amarie Duran each singled for Muldrow.

Dean was the hardluck loser, fanning six batters in seven innings and throwing a fourhitter.
