CHECOTAH — A late score by the host Checotah Wildcats ended up dooming the Muldrow Bulldogs as they lost their road District 3A-3 game 21-17 to suffer their first loss of the season and first defeat in district play.
The Bulldogs (4-1 overall, 1-1 in district play) took a 17-14 lead with 7:11 left to play in the game on Wyatt Prewett’s 42-yard field goal, but the Wildcats (4-1, 2-0) scored on a 3-yard touchdown pass and hit the extra point with nine seconds left to get the come-from-behind win.
After the ’Cats scored a TD in each of the first two periods for a 14-0 halftime lead, the ’Dogs came back with two touchdowns in the third quarter.
The first one was an 8-yard touchdown pass from Teaguen Collins to D.J. Massey. Prewett’s extra point cut Muldrow’s deficit in half at 14-7 with 10:00 left in the period.
The game-tying score was a 4-yard TD run by Collins with 4:31 remaining in the quarter. Prewett’s PAT knotted the game at 14-all going into the final period.
The Bulldogs will entertain the Idabel Warriors (1-3, 1-1), who beat Stigler 28-7 last Friday night for their first win of 2025 and first district victory off the season, at 7 p.m. this Friday at Marty Rogers Field.
