The Cave Springs Hornets spoiled homecoming for the Gans Grizzlies as they left town 26-6 victors last Friday night at Grizzly Field.
The Hornets (3-2) jumped out to a 20-0 lead before the Grizzlies (2-3) got their lone touchdown on the night on a 2-yard TD run by Preston Moore with 8:50 left to play in the game.
“We couldn’t stop them,” Gans coach Gary Hixon said. “They’re big and physical. we would get a one-yard stop or a negative play (on defense), then we’d give up five or six (yards on the next play). They would run an end-around a couple of times against us. We just didn’t play very good disciplined defense in my opinion.”
The Grizzlies will begin District BII-4 play with a road game against the Arkoma Mustangs at 7 p.m. next Friday at Arkoma’s Mustang Field.
