A September 7 collision near W.W. Grocery on Hwy. 64B claimed the life of a Muldrow man and left two others injured, according to an accident report released by Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).
The crash happened at 10:26 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 64B and East 1050 Road. Troopers reported that a Kia sedan, driven by Devonte D. Youngblood, 29, of Muldrow, was traveling eastbound on East 1050 Road at a high rate of speed when it failed to stop at a posted stop sign.
The Kia entered the intersection and struck a southbound farm truck hauling a cattle trailer driven by Joe D. Tyler, 27, also of Muldrow. The impact forced the farm truck into the parking lot of W.W. Grocery, where the attached trailer overturned onto its side. The Kia contin- nued into a nearby field, where it caught fire.
Youngblood was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. His passenger, who was pulled from the burning vehicle, was airlifted in critical condition to Washington Regional Medical Center.
Tyler sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash. Nine head of cattle were being hauled in the trailer at the time of the wreck; their condition was not immediately released.
Authorities confirmed that not all occupants of the Kia were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
The OHP, along with local law enforcement, is continuing to investigate the accident as of press time, Tuesday afternoon.
