Muldrow Bulldogs survive scare from Eufaula in district opener
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

The Muldrow Bulldogs won their District 3A-3 opener as they held off the Eufaula Ironheads 28-27 in the District 3A-3 opener last Friday night at Marty Rogers Field.

The Bulldogs (4-0 overall, 1-0 in district play) jumped out to a commanding 21-7 lead in the first quarter. Teaguen Collins threw two touchdown passes, a 29-yarder to J’vion Mays and a 37-yarder to Jermauree Palmer. DeShawn Willson scored Muldrow’s third TD of the period on a 78-yard kickoff return just after the Ironheads (0-4, 0-1) cut their deficit to 14-7. Jace Prewett hit all three extra points.

However, the Ironheads would not go away as they cut their deficit to 21-14 at the half.

Willson scored his second touchdown of the night as he took it in from 56 yards out. Prewett’s PAT upped Muldrow’s advantage to 28-14 after three quarters.

The Ironheads scored two TDs in the final period. After the second touchdown, the Ironheads opted to go for two points, but the ’Dogs stopped them to preserve the district-opening win.

The Bulldogs will visit the Checotah Wildcats for their next District 3A-3 game, which will begin at 7 p.m. next Friday at Checotah’s Ogle Field.
