God’s Word in the Believer’s Life
Commentary

God’s Word in the Believer’s Life
His Word is Truth
By Shirley R. Watts

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…” (Col.3:16).

Today, many Believers in Christ are reading everything except the “Word of God.”

Many professing believers have and continue to enjoy the things of the world, the flesh and the devil. It is called, “sin!” Why is this? They don’t study His word!!! They are backslidden…or maybe lost!

The devil was defeated at the Cross of Christ, but most Believers don’t know that and Satan is drawing many into his web and they are being deceived with lies.

“Your word is very pure; Therefore Your servant loves it” (Ps. 119:140). Do you read God’s word? Do you love it? How often do you pick up His Book? Are you depending on the pastor to keep you spiritually healthy? It will not happen!

There is no way a Christian can grow in Christ with a thirty minute snack twice a week. Much of the thirty minutes is junk food! Few pastors feed themselves, therefore they cannot feed you. “Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord:” (Ezek. 34:7).

Christian, one day you will stand before God and face Christ (II Cor. 5:9-11). Pastor you will also stand alone! You need to feed the sheep today! They are hungry! Jesus said: “Feed My lambs… feed My sheep” John 21:1517). Challenge them to study. Imagine the Church in Bible Study! This would bring a revival in our churches and land! Amen!

It is very important that you get into the Word, pray and allow God’s Holy Spirit to teach you. When we study, we find ourselves rejoicing in God. “I rejoice at your word As one who finds great treasure” Ps. 119:162). If you don’t study—you find no treasure!

A Believer who does not study the Word alone with God, where the Holy Spirit is able to teach them is missing out on fellowship with the Creator of the world who is all powerful, all present, and all knowing, compassionate, and is concerned for us.

Don’t let the devil steal that from you. Jesus said: We should live “by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” Jesus did!

It is in God’s Word that we experience peace, joy, and love. When you study His Word you will find yourself breaking out into worship and in praise. “I will praise His word” (Ps. 56:10).

One must walk with the Lord through the Scriptures in prayer. “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth” (Jn.17:17).

We must meditate on it constantly. God’s Word is life!

I have found that when I feel bad, I pick up His Book. I begin to feel much better. The study of His word fades a headache away much faster than Tylenol and the side effects are great…a spiritual high! You praise Him! You are full of joy! Yes! You can get high on His Word and some have been accused of being drunk. What an exciting time that is!

Studying His Word will make our faith stronger. So, if you want to grow in faith…pick up His Book!

His Word helps “when I am afflicted…” then i cry out, “Revive me, O Lord, according to Your word” (Ps 119:107; Ps.119:50). When “my soul melts from heaviness;” I pray. “Strengthen me according to Your word” (Ps. 119:28). His word heals me!

God’s Word is powerful, after all “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made” (Ps. 33:6). The world doesn’t believe that, but that doesn’t change the fact. Amen!

I challenge you to get back to the Bible! Don’t lay it aside. Let’ have a Bible Revival here in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma.

Stay in the Truth… God’s Word!

Share His Word because “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom. 10:17). It has life in it! His word is “living and powerful” (Heb. 4:12). The Word of God transforms lives every day! Yes, He still saves!

Be healthy! Studying His Word does the heart good!

And the people said, Amen!

Praise the Lord for His Word!
