It was a rough ending to the 2025 fast-pitch softball season for the Central Lady Tigers as they suffered through a 1-3 week.
After losing their regular- season finale 11-1 to Whitesboro on Sept. 22 at home, the Lady Tigers went 1-2 in the Class 2A Regional Tournament, which took place Thursday and Friday in Panama, as they lost 7-0 and 13-5 in five innings to Hartshorne but beat Rejoice Christian 11-2 in five innings.
The Lady Tigers ended the season at 5-18.
In the regular-season ending loss to Whtiesboro, Whitesboro pitcher Lillie Fincher threw a three-hitter.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-0 lead after an inning, then scored once in the third inning, twice in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth inning to put the game into run-rule status.
The lone run for the Lady Tigers scored on Alyvia Warner’s RBI single, scoring Lily Kutil, in the fourth inning.
In defeat, Brianna Taylor doubled, Warner hit an RBI single and Brenleigh Allen singled for Central.
In the first loss to Hartshorne on Thursday, Hartshorne pitcher Kenidee Woods threw a three-hitter with nine strikeouts.
The Lady Miners broke a scoreless deadlock with single runs in the third and fourth innings, three runs in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth inning.
In defeat, Allen, Charlie Petree and Sadie Huff each singled for Central.
Addison Howard (512) took the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in six innings.
In the win over Rejoice Christian on Thursday, the Lady Tigers broke a scoreless tie with a fiverun second inning. After the Lady Eagles scored twice in the fifth inning to cut their deficit to 5-2, the Lady Tigers put the game into run-rule status with a six-run fifth inning.
For the contest, Allen was 3-for-4 with a run batted in, Warner was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, Jhaselyn Gonzalez was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored, Huff was 2-for-3 with with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Taylor tripled with a run scored for Central. Howard got the win.
In the season-ending loss to Hartshorne on Friday, a pair of two-run innings in the first and second innings put the Lady Miners ahead 4-0 after two innings.
After the Lady Tigers scored once in the third inning on Petree’s oneout RBI single to cut the deficit to 4-1, the Lady Miners responded with four runs in their half of the frame to up their advantage to 8-1 after three innings.
After each team scored twice in the fourth inning, the Lady Tigers scored twice more in the fifth inning on a passed ball and Keeley Poindexter’s RBI single to cut their deficit to 10-5, but the Lady Miners scored three runs in their half of the inning to put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Allen was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored, Warner was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored and Petree was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Central.
Howard suffered the loss, despite fanning four batters in 4.1 in- nings.
