The Muldrow Board of Education approved a number of personnel, financial and policy items for the school year during its regular monthly meeting on September 8.
On the consent agenda, the board approved the minutes from the Aug. 11 meeting, accepted the resignation of Christine Hands, and authorized general fund encumbrances totaling $151,706.45, along with a payroll encumbrance of $22,655.59. Several fundraiser requests and financial reports were also approved.
Superintendent Angela Williams reported on the upcoming National School Board Convention, enrollment numbers, the September calendar, and plans for the homecoming parade route. She also reviewed the district’s dropout and college remediation reports and gave an update on the 21st Century Community Learning Center program.
The board unanimously approved the district’s Alternative Education Plan for the school year before entering into executive session at 6:18 p.m. to discuss non-certified employment. After reconvening at 6:29, board members voted to hire Caliesta Smith as a paraprofessional and April Kennedy and Raelea Winstead as teacher assistants, all on temporary contracts.
In addition, Elizabeth Rosenberg was approved as the elementary after-school Gifted and Talented teacher, and Alana Walters was hired to fill the same role at the middle school.
Members also approved the district’s Estimate of Needs and publication sheet, confirmed committee assignments, and adopted both the General Fund and Activity Fund budgets for the year.
A public hearing was conducted to allow community input on the district’s request for permission to administer the ACT.
Other approvals included:
• A School Security Officer agreement with the Town of Muldrow
• A Medicaid billing participation agreement with the Oklahoma State Department of Education Public Consulting Group
• A Memorandum of Understanding between the school and Sequoyah County
• Policy changes to DHAC and FFACA
• Transfers between activity fund accounts With no new business introduced, the meeting adjourned at 6:48 p.m.
