Roland Lady Rangers get four wins last week, three in I-40 Shootout
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

The Roland Lady Rangers got four wins last week, with three of those coming in the two-day Interstate 40 Shootout — which took place Thursday at Central High School and Saturday in Roland.

The Lady Rangers started last week off with a 2-1 home win over Gore on Sept. 8, but they dropped a 3-2 District 3A-6 road game to Keys on Sept. 9.

In the I-40 Shootout, the Lady Rangers split Thursday’s games — beating archrival Muldrow 2-1 after losing 4-1 to Checotah. Then, they won both games on Saturday, beating Central 6-1 and Gore 4-0.

In the Sept. 8 home win over Gore, the Lady Rangers (10-9) scored single runs in the first and third innings for a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Pirates tried to mount a game-tying rally in the seventh inning as they scored once, but they left the game-tying run at second base.

For the game, Kyleigh Knapp was 2-for-3 with a run batted in, Addyson Clark had a single and an RBI and Karsyn Serjeant singled for Roland.

McKinna Cooper (10-9) got the win as she struck out three batters in seven innings.

In the district road loss to Keys, the Lady Cougars, who trailed 2-1 in the fourth inning, scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to get the come-frombehind win.

In defeat, Adriana Moya was 4-for-4 with a run scored, Aubriana Gragg was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Serjeant singled for the Lady Rangers (3-4 in district play).

Cooper suffered the loss, getting two strikeouts in six innings.

In the I-40 Shootout Loss to Checotah, after the Lady Rangers cut their deficit to 2-1 after an inning, the Lady Wildcats scored single runs in the third and fourth innings to preserve their win.

In defeat, Moya was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Roland.

Cooper took the loss, despite fanning four batters in five innings.

In the I-40 Shootout win over Muldrow, the Lady Rangers scored single runs in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead. The Lady Bulldogs cut their deficit to 2-1 in the fifth inning on Jaela Grayson’s fly ball, scoring Dean. However, the Lady Bulldogs got no closer.

For the game, Moya was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, while Clark singled with an RBI for Roland.

Cooper got the win, getting two strikeouts in five innings.

In the I-40 Shootout victory over Central, the Lady Rangers scored once in the first inning and three runs in the third inning for a 4-0 lead. The Lady Tigers scored once in the fourth inning to cut their deficit to 4-1 after four innings but got no closer.

For the game, Moya was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored, while Cooper was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Roland. Cooper got the win, throwing a five-hitter.

In the I-40 Shootout win over Gore, Cooper threw a six-inning, three-hitter with four strikeouts.

The Lady Rangers scored twice in the first inning, once in the second inning and once in the fifth inning.

In defeat, Lillian Cole was 2-for-3 and Serjeant was 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
