Muldrow Lady Bulldogs go 4-2 last week

The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs went 4-2 last week on the softball diamond.

The week started with an 8-4 District 4A-6 home win over Eufaula on Sept. 8 before losing a 14-5 home district game to Broken Bow on Sept. 9.

In the Interstate 40 Shootout, which took place Thursday at Central High School and Saturday in Roland, the Lady Bulldogs went 3-1.

On Thursday, Muldrow lost 2-1 to archrival Roland but beat Central 11-2, while winning twice on Saturday — 4-3 in eight innings over Checotah and 5-0 over Gore.

In the win over Eufaula, the Lady Bulldogs (11-8 overall, 5-3 in District 4A-6 play) rallied from a 4-1 deficit with a seven-run sixth inning.

For the game, Haven Nickson was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs batted in and a run scored, Raegan Newbern was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Aliyah Duran was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored and Kaydence Young doubled and scored twice for Muldrow.

Young (4-4) got the win as she struck out two batters in seven innings.

In the loss to Broken Bow, the Lady Savages rallied from a 5-2 firstinning deficit with a four-run third inning, a single run in the fourth inning, a for-run sixth inning and a three-run seventh inning.

In defeat, Young was 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, Amaya Duran was 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored and Kesslyn Pratt was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Lady Bulldogs.

Jaydin Dean (7-4) suffered the loss, getting three strikeouts in seven innings.

In the I-40 Shootout loss to Roland, the Lady Rangers scored single runs in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead. The Lady Bulldogs cut their deficit to 2-1 in the fifth inning on Jaela Grayson’s fly ball, scoring Dean. However, the Lady Bulldogs got no closer.

In defeat, Amarie Duran was 2-for-3 for Muldrow.

Young suffered the loss, despite fanning seven batters in five innings.

In the I-40 Shootout win over Central, the Lady Bulldogs took control of the game early as they scored three runs in the first inning and four runs in each of the second and third innings for an 11-0 lead.

For the game, Nickson was 3-for-4 with a double, five RBIs and two runs scored, Amarie Duran was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Aliyah Duran was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored and Noelia Parga doubled with an RBI for Muldrow.

Dean got the win going the first 3.2 innings with four strikeouts. Young got the final out in relief.

In the I-40 Shootout win over Checotah, Dean’s one-out RBI double scored Pratt in the eighth inning for the game-winning hit.

For the game, Amarie Duran was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Young was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Muldrow.

Dean got the win, going all eight innings with four Ks.

In the I-40 Shootout victory over Gore, Young threw a six-inning three-hitter with seven strikeouts.

The Lady Bulldogs scored twice in the second inning and three runs in the sixth inning.

For the game, Young was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Newbern was 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, Grayson was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs and Aliyah Duran doubled with two RBIs and a run scored for Muldrow, which had Monday’s home game with Central canceled.
