The Gans Lady Grizzlies got their first fastpitch softball win of the 2025 season as they blanked the Kinta Lady Eagles 9-0 on Sept. 9 at home.
The winning streak was halted at one as the Lady Grizzlies lost an 8-0, five-inning road game to the host Keota Lady Lions on Thursday afternoon.
In the win over Kinta, the Lady Grizzlies (111) scored three runs in each of their first three innings to put the game into run-rule status by the end of the third inning. When the Lady Eagles failed to score once in the fourth inning, the game was stopped.
For the contest, Nora Barnea was 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs scored and a run batted in, while Abigail Leach singled with an RBI and a run scored for Gans.
Leach (1-9) got her first win of the season, as she struck out 12 Kinta batters and threw a no-hitter.
In the loss to Keota, Keota pitcher Jaycee Byrd threw a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts.
The Lady Lions scored three runs in the first inning and twice in the third inning for a 5-0 lead, then put the game into run-rule status with a three-run fifth inning.
In defeat, Barnea had Gans’ only hit.
Leach took the loss, despite striking out three batters in 4.2 innings.
On Friday, the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) sent the Lady Grizzlies to Red Oak for the Class B District Tournament, which will be Sept. 25-27.
