Muldrow Bulldogs win ‘Battle of 64’ for second straight year over Roland Rangers
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

In the latest installment of “The Battle of 64” on Friday night at Ranger Stadium, the visiting Muldrow Bulldogs defeated the host Roland Rangers 6218 to win the second straight game of the series for the ’Dogs.

The Bulldogs (10) saw the quarterback combination Jace Prewett and Teaguen Collins combine for seven touchdown passes as Prewett threw for 202 yards and four TDs and Collins had 72 yards passing and three touchdowns.

Jermauree Palmer caught three of TD passes — four receptions — all total for 126 yards, D.J. Massey caught two touchdown passes for a total of 51 yards, Kade Scott caught an 8-yard TD pass from Collins in the third quarter and Trey Turpin hauled in a 28-yard touchdown pass from Prewett in the final period.

DeShawn Willson rushed for 106 yards and a 42-yard TD run to open the scoring, while DeMonie Brock scored on a 4-yard touchdown run for Muldrow’s second of four scores in the first quarter.

The ’Dogs built a 35-0 lead with 1:09 left in the first half before the Rangers (0-1) got their first score on Kayden Hartt’s 16-yard TD pass to Uriah Phillips with 13 seconds remaining before halftime.

The Rangers scored twice in the final period as Hartt threw his second touchdown pass to Phillips, this one covering 65 yards, and Alex Brant connected with Novion Reagan on a 14yard TD pass.

If there was one solace for the Rangers, it was that after they gave up 127 yards rushing to the Bulldogs in the first quarter, they only allowed the ’Dogs 27 yards rushing over the final three periods.

The Bulldogs will play their home opener against Waldron, Ark., while the Rangers will continue their threegame season-opening homestand against Lavaca, Ark., next Friday night. Both games are set to kick off at 7 p.m.
