The bad news was the Gans Grizzlies suffered a 50-20 home loss to the Oaks Warriors last Friday night at Grizzly Field.
Most of the problems for the Grizzlies (0-2) were self-inflicted miscues as they committed 13 penalties for 90 yards, with six of those were for either false starts or illegal procedures. The Grizzlies also had a touchdown called back due to a penalty.
The first score for the Grizzlies came on special teams as Preston Bennett recovered a fumble in the end zone in the second quarter.
The Grizzlies also got two rushing touchdowns in the second half — a 1-yard TD run by Jasper Green in the third quarter and a 26-yard TD run by Anthony Vasquez.
The good news is they scored their first points of the season and did not let the Warriors mercy rule them like last year. Last season, the Grizzlies were blanked in their first two games.
The Grizzlies will play their first road game of the season as they will travel to meet the Watts Engineers at 7 p.m. this Friday.
