County commissioners approve SRO contracts for area schools

The Sequoyah County Commissioners at their August meetings and last Tuesday approved the purchase of dump trucks and a pickup; agreements for school resource officers, for working on private property and with the Cherokee Nation; appointments to Central and McKey fire departments; and declarations of vehicles and a drone as surplus.

The commissioners recently awarded bids for the purchase of two dump trucks for District 2 from HRG Equipment, Fort Worth, for $233,000. A transfer of appropriations from sales tax to sales tax capital outlay in the amount of $240,000 was also approved for District 2.

Additionally, the commissioners approved: • A lease-purchase agreement by and between Sequoyah County and John Vance Fleet Services for the purchase of a 2025 Ford F150 Responder Crew 4×4 for the Sequoyah County Sheriff ’s Office

• Yearly school resource officer (SRO) agreements by and between the sheriff ’s office and Belfonte, Brushy, Central, Gans, Liberty and Moffett schools

• Yearly service contracts for Sequoyah County Health Department

• An annual memorandum of agreement by and between the Cherokee Nation and Sequoyah County

• An addendum to an agreement for administration of sales tax resolution for Sequoyah County, associated with the allocation of lodging tax by the Oklahoma Tax Commission

• An agreement to work on private property by and between District 2 and landowner Dan Ollie in the 4500 block of south Dwight Mission Road

• A resolution authorizing District 2 to apply for a Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grant

• A bid on countyowned property in Marble City by Hickory Ridge Rentals LLC in the amount of $609.69

• A reimbursement to District 3 in the amount of $215.80 from the County Improvements for Roads and Bridges (CIRB) account

• Transfer of appropriations from the sheriff ’s office cops grant to sheriff ’s personal service in the amount of $2,039.88, as well as a transfer from sheriff ’s personal service to Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) maintenance and operations in the amount of $1,400

• Transfer of appropriations from the health department maintenance and operations account to the capital outlay account in the amount of $10,000 The commissioners also approved the appointments of:

• Max Tan Smith to replace Kendall Thompson on the Sequoyah County Fair Board

• Julie Haywood and Benton Malick as requisitioning agents for Central Fire Department

• Gary Malick and Duane Martindale as receiving agents for Central Fire Department

• Benton Malick as tax board representative and Trajan Lattimore as alternate for Central Fire Department

• Chris Franklin and Amos Stewart as receiving agents for McKey Fire Department

• Julie Haywood and Craig Edgmon as requisitioning agents for McKey Fire Department

• Devin Guthrie as tax board representative and Chris Franklin as alternate for McKey Fire Department Additionally, the commissioners declared as surplus from the sheriff ’s office the following:

• 2022 Ford F150

• 2019 Chevy Tahoe 4WD

• 2019 Chevy Tahoe

• 2017 Ford Explore

• 2017 Dodge 2500

• 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan

• 2012 Chevrolet truck

• 2010 Chevy Tahoe

• 2010 GMC Yukon

• Phantom 3 drone
