Last fall, Roland High School embarked on cross country for the first time in school history.
The inaugural season of cross country produced six runners — four Lady Rangers and two Rangers.
Roland had two state qualifiers, Molly Carver for the Lady Rangers and Landon Killer for the Rangers.
Carver, who is one of three returning runners back for coach Tina Ramos, finished 32nd at the 2024 Class 3A State Meet.
Carver, now a senior, is joined by two other returning runners for the Lady Rangers — junior Abby Bower and sophomore Cadence Cole. Senior Landyn Ramey and juniors Anistyn Howard and Madison Hall round out the Lady Rangers’ roster.
Killer was 60th at state last fall, but is now prepping to run for the Carl Albert State College Vikings this fall as a freshman.
Junior Josh Bower is the only returning runner for the Rangers, who will be joined by junior Hunter Lowe, sophomore Brett Mauldin and freshmen Dylan Lowe, Tommie Greschke and Rayen Tally.
With both the Lady Rangers and Rangers having six runners, it means they will be able to compete for not only individual honors but team championships as well.
The Roland squads will begin their season in the Carl Albert State College/Poteau Invitational at 9 a.m. Friday.
