The Roland Lady Rangers were 15-15 last fall, and they hope the improvement made last season will continue into the 2025 fast-pitch softball season, which got underway last week.
Seven Lady Rangers are back who saw playing time last season, with one of those being the team’s lone senior — shortstop Addyson Clark, who batted a team-high .516 in 2024.
Left fielder Lillian Cole (who hit .259 last season) and first baseman Kyleigh Knapp (.382) are the key juniors back.
A good portion of the returners from a season ago completed their freshmen campaigns last year and are ready for year No. 2 as sophomore, including last year’s starting pitcher McKinna Cooper (who hit .253 last fall). The rest of the sophomore group includes catcher Paisley Davis (.367 batting average in 2024), second baseman Adriana Moya (.407) and outfielder/ designated hitter Laynie Roedenbeck (.318).
Junior Aubrianna Gragg, who will play in either the infield or outfield, is expected to see some playing time.
The rest of the team are freshmen — infielders/ outfielders Kaia Cantrell, Hannah Pratt and Karsyn Serjeant along with outfielder Khloe Cox.
“We still have a mix of upperclassmen and a good number of freshmen and sophomores with some experience from lsat year’s team,” said Roland coach Albis Ramos, who is in his second season at the helm. “We should continue to improve and compete on a daily basis. It is going to be exciting to see what this team is going to do this year.”
