Muldrow softball team goes 4-2 during opening week of season

The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs went 4-2 during the opening week of the 2025 fast-pitch softball season last week.

The Lady Bulldogs went 2-1 in their District 4A-6 games. On opening day on Aug. 11, they split their road district games in Mc-Curtain County — beating Idabel 13-2 but losing 10-2 to Broken Bow. On Aug. 12, they got a 6-5 road district victory over Sallisaw.

In the two-day Muldrow Softball Festival, the Lady Bulldogs went 2-1 — defeating Central 1-0 and Salina 10-3 on Saturday after losing 8-7 to archrival Muldrow on Friday night.

In the win over Idabel, the Lady Bulldogs (4-2 overall, 2-1 in district play) rallied from a 2-0 first-inning deficit with a two-run second inning, a pair of single runs in the third and fourth innings, a fourrun fifth inning and a seven-run seventh inning to get the comefrom- behind win. For the game, Raegan Newbern was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, Amarie Duran was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a run batted in, Haven Nickson was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Aliyah Duran was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Muldrow.

Kaydence Young (10) got the win, striking out eight batters and scattering six hits.

In the loss to Broken Bow, the Lady Savages scored four runs in the first inning and twice in the second inning for a 6-0 lead. The Lady Bulldogs scored once in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 6-1, only to see the Lady Savages come back in their half of the fourth inning with three runs to put away the game.

In defeat, Young doubled, Newbern and Aliyah Duran each singled with an RBI and Jaydin Dean and Kesslyn Pratt each singled for Muldrow.

Dean (3-2) took the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in six innings.

In the win over Sallisaw, the Lady Diamonds broke a 2-all tie with a three-run fourth inning to take the lead for good at 5-2.

For the game, Amarie Duran was 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Muldrow. Dean got the win, striking out eight batters and scattering six hits.

In the loss to Roland, the Lady Rangers broke a 7-all tie on Paisley Davis’ two-out, RBI double in the fifth inning.

In defeat, Nickson was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, Amaya Duran and Pratt each doubled and scored once and Aliyah Duran tripled with two RBIs and a run scored for Muldrow. Dean took the loss.

In the victory over Central, Aliyah Duran’s RBI when she was hit by a pitch with an out and the bases loaded in the fifth inning walked it off for Muldrow.

For the game, Amarie Duran and Dean each singled for Muldrow. Dean picked up the victory, striking out five batters in five innings.

In the win over Salina, the Lady Bulldogs broke a 1-all tie with a sevenrun second inning.

For the game, Amaya Duran was 2-for-2 with with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Nickson was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Young was 2-for-2 with a double and a run a scored, Noelia Parga was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored and Dean doubled with two RBIs and two runs scored for Muldrow. Dean got the win, fanning five batters in four innings.
