The Muldrow Public School Board of Education met on August 11 for its regular monthly meeting where the board members opened with approval of the consent agenda, which included financial reports, payroll and building fund encumbrances, fundraiser requests, and a list of substitute teachers and bus drivers for the 2025-26 school year. A resignation from staff member Maria Casteel was also accepted.
During her superintendent’s report, Angela Williams updated the board on the recent CCOSA/OSSBA Convention, upcoming calendar events, the PAWS program, building projects, and the Summer Food Service Program review. She also discussed the Opioid Grant and reviewed requirements under HB 1958.
The board entered into executive session to discuss personnel matters before returning to open session to approve several hires. Terry Collins was hired as an adjunct middle school math teacher. Two non-certified staff positions were also filled, with Sibyl Morton hired as secretary and Reva Richardson as high school paraprofessional.
Board members approved the district’s annual Career and Technology Education contract with the state for 2025-26, and sanctioned the Band, Baseball, Basketball, FFA, Football Quarterback Club, PTO, Softball, and Speech booster organizations for the new school year.
Other business included renewing the district’s service contract with Cintas for uniforms and mops, approving reserve officers Shawn Hallum and CJ McGehee for the school year, and appointing board president Darrin Phelps as the district’s delegate to the Oklahoma State School Boards Association assembly.
The board also approved stipends for mentor teachers who completed 120 hours working with residency year teachers, and adopted changes to several district policies.
No new business was brought forward, and the meeting adjourned at 7:09 p.m.
