Gans Lady Grizzlies fall to Heavener, Haworth in Leflore Tournament
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

LEFLORE — The 2025 fast-pitch softball season did not get off on the right set of paws for the Gans Lady Grizzlies as they went 0-2 in the Leflore Tournament, which took place Thursday and Friday.

The Lady Grizzlies suffered a 15-2 threeinning loss to the Heavener Lady Wolves to open the tournament on Thursday, then were eliminated from the tournament with a 9-1 four-inning loss to the Haworth Lady Lions on Friday.

In the loss to Heavener, after the Lady Grizzlies (0-2) scored twice in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead, the Lady Wolves responded with a 14-run third inning to put the game into runrule status.

In defeat, Abigail Leach and Nora Barnea each singled for Gans.

Leach (0-2) suffered the loss, despite striking out three batters in 2.1 innings. Barnea got the final out of the game. The Lady Grizzlies committed four errors, which led to 10 unearned runs for Heavener.

In the loss to Haworth, the Lady Lions broke a 1-all tie with a three-run fifth inning and a fiverun fourth inning.

In defeat, Barnea’s single was the lone hit for the Lady Grizzlies. Leach took the loss, despite fanning 10 batters in four innings. Seven Gans errors led to all the Haworth runs being unearned.
