Join Cherokee Nation in hour-long lunch & learn sessions aimed to educate the public about the rich history and thriving culture of the largest tribal Nation in the United States.
Each session will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the NSU Jazz Lab in Tahlequah and will focus on curriculum that examines specific historical events, people and more.
The upcoming sessions are open to to the public and free to attend and include the following:
Sept. 17 — How Camp Gruber displaced Cherokee families during WWII, presented by Cherokee historian consultant LeeAnn Dreadfulwater
Oct. 15 — The consequential legacy of Civil War actions in Arkansas and Indian territory, presented by director of the Drennen-Scott historic site Tom Wing.
Nov. 19 – Cherokee art in public spaces, presented by Cherokee National Treasure Eddie Morrison and Cherokee artist Daniel HorseChief.
These lunch & learn sessions will be hosted at the NSU Jazz Lab located at 315 N Muskogee Ave in Tahlequah. Those who plan on attending are encouraged to bring their own lunch; however, light refreshments will be provided.
