A Tahlequah resident has pleaded guilty to federal charges of illegally possessing firearms and ammunition, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced this week.
Cody L. Pritchett, 34, admitted to being a felon in possession of multiple firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. The plea stems from a Feb. 4, 2025, incident in which federal agents found Pritchett in possession of a .22 caliber Derringer, a semi-automatic rifle, a short-barreled rifle, and a cache of ammunition, including .22 caliber, 12-gauge, and 9mm rounds.
Because of a prior felony conviction, Pritchett is prohibited under federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition. He now faces up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Pritchett’s guilty plea and ordered a pre-sentence investigation report to be completed. Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date and will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge, who will weigh federal sentencing guidelines and other legal considerations.
Pritchett was released on bond under specific conditions pending sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lewis M. Reagan is prosecuting the case.
