Renewing agreements, green lighting pursuit of grant funds and approving appointments to fire department boards topped the agenda for Sequoyah County Commissioners at their weekly Monday meeting.

The commissioners approved detention service agreements between the county and

• CommunityWorks LLC at the Pottawatomie County Detention Center at a rate of $49.50 per child. CommunityWorks is a privately-owned and operated for-profit organization that provides mental health services, substance abuse assessments and youth residential services

• ROCMND Area Youth Services at the Craig County Juvenile Detention Center at a rate of $25 per child. ROCMND is a community- based agency that provides therapeutic behavioral health services to children and their families, helping curb substance abuse and misuse. ROCMND has residential services for youth which receive their referrals from the Office of Juvenile Affairs.

The commissioners also approved pursuit of grant funding for

• Sheriff ’s Office Funding Assistance, which in past years has been utilized as a stipend versus pay raise for deputies because funding is not guaranteed each year. Commissioners have advocated for eliminating the sunset and replacing it with guaranteed monies.

• State of Oklahoma’s Attorney General “Safe Oklahoma,” funds that would also benefit the sheriff ’s office reduce violent crime through strategies like enhanced technology, community partnerships and victim services.

The commissioners also approved the appointments of

• Troy Pack as representative, with Paula Davis as alternate, to the Blackgum Fire Department Tax Board

• Matt Barnes as representative, with Colton Barnes as alternate, to the West Tenkiller Fire Department Tax Board

• Cason Sparkman as representative, with Jason Israel as alternate, to the Muldrow Fire Department Tax Board

• Jesse Chandler and Julie Haywood as purchasing agents for the Muldrow Fire Department • Kenny Sharp and Kellie Richmond as receiving agents for the Muldrow Fire Department
