Jesus said: Look at The Fields
Commentary
June 17, 2025
Jesus said: Look at The Fields

“Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!” (John 4:35-36) “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. (Luke 10:2-4) “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matt 28:19-20).

Christian, have you ever taken the time to “look at the fields”? As you move through each day do you see the fields of the lost? Churches need to look out the windows of the building and see the untold millions of lost souls. Giving to missions is great, but you and I must go work in the fields. When was the last time you worked in the fields…sharing the Gospel with an unsaved person? Jesus calls us to “go” work in the fields! He said, “lift up your eyes and look” the harvest is ready, laborers are few. He commands each of us to go and also to pray for laborers to work the fields.

We are called to go! We are the Lord’s ambassadors with the greatest message ever told. We must run into the fields and share it. We should always look for the opportunity to share.

What do you do first? You repent of the sin of not going to work. You ask forgiveness and then you dedicate yourself to going. You pray for those who are working the fields and also ask God to send more workers…laborers to the fields. He may call you! Are you willing to go!

You look at those in His Word who committed their lives to working the fields. We are called to take His Word to others. We must not be greedy with the Gospel!

It is a high privilege to serve our God and His Son in the fields. It is a joy!

The Twelve were sent (Luke 9) and the Seventy sent out (Luke 10) and you and I are also called and commanded to go work the fields. We have the same message as they did…Good News of Christ. We have the same Master!

If the true local churches worked the fields in their community, it would change the world!

Do you want to be a part of the greatest work on Earth…go work in the fields! To see a soul saved from Hell is the greatest joy. Remember when you go, you sow, but another may reap, and only God can give the increase (I Cor. 3:68).

We must keep in mind that we represent the Lord as we go. We pray as we go!

Jesus didn’t say it would be easy…“Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves” ( Luke 10:3). Yes, there are many evil wolves in the fields howling at us as we go. But that must not stop us, for that is only the enemy fighting to keep a soul Hellbound! How many of your friends and family does he have? Are you willing to go and fight for them? They have been blinded.

When you go work the fields out of your dedication to Christ, you become a target of the enemy. You have entered enemy territory and he will fight to protect those who are his. Judgment is coming! Let’s go!

When we go…we go in faith and with prayer relying upon Christ. We are commanded to go! That is the first move! Then the power of God comes and the strength to work is there. We trust Christ for the work. We just go and tell!

“…Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. …He saw the multitudes… He was moved with compassion for them…” (Matt 9) Jesus our example! Let’s go and finish the work in the fields.
