Knight selected as OASA District 11 Superintendent of the Year

The Oklahoma Association of School Administrators (OASA) has announces Ginger Knight of Woodall Public School as the 2025 OASA District 11 Superintendent of the Year. Knight will be recognized at the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration (CCOSA) Summer Leadership Conference in June.

OASA annually recognizes outstanding administrators who:

• Demonstrate successful experience in top level educational administration

• Have a sound, dynamic and realistic philosophy of education • Can inspire and motivate people and give support and recognition for the contributions of others

• Have a record which evidences continued professional and personal growth through appropriate training and experiences including skills in human relations and the stamina to cope with the pressures of the job

• Have the ability to speak for education on all levels with special emphasis on the district level

• Have made contributions to educational administration “Leaders set out to make a difference, not to just be called a leader.

The recognition of our school superintendents by their peers is a powerful testament to their unwavering commitment, visionary leadership, and daily impact on students, educators, and communities. Ginger Knight is among the best of Oklahoma administrators. We are excited and proud to recognize these outstanding leaders whose service stands as a beacon of excellence in public education.”

OASA has 20 Districts that consist of multiple counties. Eligible OASA members are nominated and selected by their peers in their OASA District.

Knight has devoted over 30 years to public education, serving as a teacher, instructional coach, principal, and, for the past five years, as superintendent of Woodall School. A committed advocate for educational excellence, she is a respected leader at the state level. She actively contributes to the advancement of education through her service on the executive committees of several prominent organizations, including the Oklahoma Schools Advisory Council (OSAC), the Organization of Rural Elementary Schools (ORES), and the Oklahoma Association of School Administrators (OASA). Most recently, she was elected to the Board of Education for the Indian Capital Technology Center.

A lifelong resident of Checotah, she and her husband, Tommy, have proudly raised three children—Caleb, Seth and Natalie—in their hometown.

“I am truly humbled and honored to be selected by my peers as the OASA District 11 Superintendent of the Year. This recognition means so much to me, but it truly belongs to Woodall School. It reflects the incredible work of our amazing team — our dedicated staff, outstanding students, and supportive community. I’m deeply thankful for your unwavering support and proud to be part of something so special,” Knight said.
