The Muldrow Public School Board of Education convened for its regular monthly meeting on May 12, at the Administration/ Cafetorium Building on the high school campus. With all members present, Darrin Phelps, Colby Wilson, Darin Huggins, Dowen Green, and Chad Sutton, the board moved through a full agenda, addressing staffing changes, upcoming programs, and key service contracts for the 2025-26 school year.
Superintendent Roger Sharp provided updates during his report, covering a broad range of topics. He highlighted legislative developments, upcoming Baccalaureate and graduation ceremonies, the May calendar, board member credits, and the recent Child Nutrition review. He also discussed summer programming, maintenance projects and a possible new softball park. Sharp noted a ribbon cutting for the completed Don Morton Animal Science Facility expansion, which was held at 10 a.m. on May 14.
The board approved a number of items under the consent agenda, including the resignations of 10 faculty and staff members, financial reports, fundraiser requests, and encumbrances totaling more than $123,000.
Faculty members resigning included Mary Butler, Shanae Gage, Tommy Gage, Sibyl Morton, Adam Pool, Eryn Pool, Becky Prewett, John Rozell, Monica Sessums and Patti Sessums.
A series of contract renewals and agreements were approved for the upcoming school year, including:
• Renewal of the district’s membership with the Oklahoma State School Boards Association (OSSBA)
• Continued partnership with Precision Drug Screening for student and employee testing
• A cooperative agreement with Liberty, Gans and Central schools to support their Alternative Education Programs
• Service agreement with Hudl for athletic video analysis
• Contracts for speech language pathology with Lindsay Leach and Brandi Wofford
• Therapy service renewals with Kidworks (occupational therapy) and Rivermark (physical therapy) The board also approved the transfer of funds between activity accounts and granted permission for the Muldrow Speech Team to travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete in the National Speech Competition from June 14– 20.
An executive session was held to discuss personnel matters, after which the board reemployed certified and non-certified staff for 2025-26, contingent on certifications for some individuals.
New hires were approved for key positions, including:
• Brandon Bahara as band director
• Lisa Rhodes as elementary music teacher
• Lexi Anderson, Brenda Bledsoe, Cameron Brady, and Mark Luciano for various teaching positions, all pending certification Additionally, the board gave Superintendent Sharp authority to hire part-time staff for summer roles in food service, maintenanc, and athletics.
In extracurricular staffing, Matthew Brady was appointed head baseball coach for next school year. Lucky Mc-Crary was hired on a temporary contract as the new Federal Programs Coordinator and Assistant Superintendent.
No new business was introduced, and the meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
