Whitley Moore, who received her Associate of Arts in Pre-Elementary Education from Carl Albert State College, recently took top honors in three categories at the 23rd annual Northeastern State University Student Juried Art Show.
Moore was awarded Best in Show for “Daddy’s Money,” a drawing depicting shoes and boxes of shoes an apparently well-to-do daughter purchased with Daddy’s money. She was also recognized for Best in Drawing for “Sylvia’s Shoes” (are we seeing a theme emerge?) and Best in Foundations for “Can I Pick Your Brain,” a quirky black-and-white drawing of a hand using a fork to extract a sardine from an open tin that is a girl’s brain.
Moore is now pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Art Education.
The art show featured entries in 12 categories, from drawing and painting to graphic design and sculpture. Student jazz musicians provided music for the awards ceremony and reception on April 25.
