Roland Rangers see baseball season come to an end
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

The 2025 baseball season came to a close for the Roland Rangers late Thursday night at the Class 3A Regional Tournament in Valliant.

The Rangers lost 8-1 to the host Valliant Bulldogs, then were eliminated from the playoffs with a 9-6 loss in 10 innings to the Sequoyah-Claremore Eagles.

The Rangers ended up losing their final two games on the newly-laid infield turf at the Roland High School baseball field, losing 16-2 in five innings to the Central Tigers on April 29 after falling 14-1 in four innings to the Poteau Pirates on April 25.

In the regional-tournament loss to Valliant, the Rangers (3-22) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Alex Brant’s RBI grounder, scoring Cason Perryman.

However, from there, it was all Bulldogs as they took the lead for good with a two-run first inning, then added six runs in the fifth inning.

In defeat, Brant was 2-for-3 with a double and a run batted in for Roland.

Brant (1-3) suffered the loss, getting three strikeouts in six innings.

In the season-ending loss to Sequoyah-Claremore, after the Rangers tied the game at 6-all in the seventh inning to force extra innings, the Eagles scored three runs in the 10th inning to get the win.

In defeat, Channing McKinney was 2-for-6 with a double, Derrick Allen was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored and Colton Peters doubled with two RBIs and a run scored for Roland.

Hunter Burris (15) suffered the loss in relief, going the final 4.2 innings with three strikeouts. Peters got the start and went the first 5.1 innings with five Ks.

In the home finale loss to Central, the Tigers put away the game early, scoring three runs in the first inning and six runs in the second inning for a 9-0 lead.

After the Rangers (320) cut their deficit to 9-2 after three innings, the Tigers put the game into run-rule status with a two-run fourth inning and a five-run fifth inning.

In defeat, Brant, McKinney, Peters, Avery Moya and Raesean Perryman each singled for Roland.

Brett Mouldin (0-6) suffered the loss, going the first 1.1 innings. Allen went the next 2.2 innings, then Erik Garcia got the final three outs of the game, one of which came on a strikeout.

In the loss to Poteau, the Pirates took a 5-0 lead in the first inning, which became a 10-1 advantage after two innings. A four-run fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

Poteau pitcher Caden Mitchell threw a fourinning two hitter with 10 strikeouts as Moya and Brant each singled for the only hits for the Rangers.

Mouldin took the loss as he just lasted an inning with two strikeouts. Moya went the final three innings with three Ks.
