Central track athletes, boys’ mile relay win regional titles; several Tigers, Lady Tigers make state

ATOKA — Three Central track athletes and the Tigers’ 1,600-meter relay team all claimed regional tiles at Saturday’s Class 2A Regional Meet at Phillips Field.

Individually, Alyvia Warner won the 300-meter hurdles (49.24 seconds), Braxin Goodson won the 300-meter hurdles (41.41) and Charlie Petree won the shot put (36-9).

The Tigers’ 1,600-meter relay team of Gavin Randolph, Noah Buzzard, Dillon Miller and Goodson took the gold medal with a winning time of 3:33.5.

Some of these state qualifiers also qualified in other events as well as another earning an automatic bid to next weekend’s Class 2A State Meet, which will be Friday and Saturday at Oklahoma City Western Heights High School.

For the Tigers, Randolph was third in the 400-meter dash (52.38 seconds), Buzzard was third in the 800-meter run (2:11.79) and Cole Holcomb was third in the shot put (43-7).

Several Tigers and Lady Tigers were awaiting word Monday to see if they had received atlarge bids to state for being among those top finishers who were fourth, fifth, sixth or seventh in Saturday’s regional.

For the Tigers, Goodson was fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.94 seconds).

As for Central boys’ relay teams, the 800-meter relay team of Buzzard, Jake Woods, Randolph and Goodson was seventh (1:36.59).

For the Lady Tigers, Cambree Bair was fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:04.43).

Several Central girls’ relay teams were on pins and needles on Monday, waiting to see if they earned at-large bids to state.

The 800-meter relay team was fourth (1:55.47), the 1,600-meter relay team was fourth (4:23.36) and the 3,200-meter relay team was fifth (11:16.05), As for other Tigers’ results, Woods was 16th (58.65 seconds) and Aiden Cawhorn was 19th (58.87) in the 400-meter dash, Brycen Chandler-Eisman was 30th in the 200-meter dash (26.86), Cawhorn was 31st (12.78) and Chandler-Eisman was 33rd (12.94) in the 100-meter dash As for other Lady Tigers’ results, Warner was eighth (18.79 seconds) in the 100-meter hurdles, Kaitlin Clark was eighth (13.83), Jhaselyn Gonzalez was 14th (14.37) and Gracie Thompson was 29th (14.94) in the 100-meter dash, Petree was ninth in the discus (88-6), Clark was ninth (29.24), Kinly Lovell was 21st (30.5) and Thompson was 26th (30.9) in the 200-meter dash, Ryleigh Pierce was 11th (2:53.22) and Xhayla Mosby was 24th (3:05.91) in the 800-meter run and Scarlett Harrison was 14th (6:54.4), Mosby 17th (7:01.8) and Rileigh Ford was 18th (7:17.51) in the 1,600-meter run.

The Lady Tigers’ 400-meter relay team was eighth (55.81 seconds).

In the point standings, the Tigers were sixth with 50 points, while the Lady Tigers were seventh with 42 points.
