KEOTA — The 2025 baseball season came to a close for the Gans Grizzlies with a pair of losses to the districthost Keota Lions in the Class A-II District Tournament on Wednesday by scores of 8-0 in five innings and 15-1 in three innings.
In the opener, Keota pitcher Kalib West threw a no-hitter against Gans with 10 strikeouts in five innings.
Jarrett Frazier-Barter took the loss, going the first three innings with seven strikeouts. Phoenix Xiong got the final three outs.
In the night, after the Grizzlies cut their deficit to 2-1 in the second inning, the Lions roared back in their half of the frame with 13 runs to take a 15-1 lead to put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Anthony Vasquez’s RBI single in the second inning was the lone hit for Gans off Keota pitcher Kaden Decker.
Frazier-Barter suffered the loss, going just the first inning. After Xiong got the next two outs, Jasper Green got the last out. Of Keota’s 15 runs, only four were earned as the other 11 were unearned due to the Grizzlies (0-12) committing eight errors.
