Williams named new Muldrow superintendent
As school board reorganizes, moves forward
By AMIE CATO-REMER EDITOR

In a pivotal and productive meeting on April 14, the Muldrow Public School Board of Education named Angela Williams as the district’s new superintendent for the 2025-26 school year, set to begin her term on July 1. The decision followed an executive session and received unanimous approval from all five board members.

The meeting also saw a full reorganization of board officers. Darrin Phelps was sworn in and appointed as president, with Darin Huggins as vice president, Colby Wilson as clerk, and Dowen Green and Chad Sutton continuing as board members.

The board approved a variety of routine and financial items, including over $240,000 in encumbrances and payroll, as well as calendar adjustments due to weather- related changes. A number of resignations were acknowledged, with several staff members, including Kayla Davis, Gaylene Grant, Shelby Johnston, Ashley McLaughlin, Jennifer Sheppard, Carrie Treat and Blaed Walters stepping down at the end of the school year.

In his Superintendent’s Report, Roger Sharp reviewed legislative updates, insurance adjustments, financial disclosures, and recognized upcoming valedictorians and salutatorians. He also updated the board on auction proceeds and ongoing school projects.

Among other motions passed:

• Renewal of SylogistEd, Inc. for financial and student software systems

• Authorization for a local church to use the school activity bus for two summer trips

• Approval of the 2025-26 E-Rate resolution to support internet and communication funding

• Declaration of surplus items for disposal

• Hiring of Ashley Baxter as high school science teacher

• Approval of the new non-certified salary schedule for the coming school year The meeting concluded without any new business, and adjourned at 7:59 p.m.

This news story is based on the unofficial minutes from the board meeting and could be in error if the minutes are changed prior to adoption.
