The Gans Grizzlies baseball team suffered a pair of road losses last week, losing 13-2 in three innings to the host Leflore Savages on April 15, then falling 11-0 in four innings to the host Keota Lions on Thursday.
In the loss to Leflore, the Savages scored five runs in the first inning and eight runs in the second inning for a 13-0 lead to put the game into run-rule status. The Grizzlies (0-10) got their two runs in the third inning to avoid the shutout.
In defeat, Jarret Frazier- Barter doubled, while Brenden Strickland singled for the only hits for Gans.
Frazier-Barter took the loss, despite recording six strikeouts in two innings.
In the loss to Keota, the Lions scored three runs in the first inning, four runs in the second inning and once in the third inning for an 8-0 lead. A three-run fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.
Keota pitcher Kaden Decker one-hit the Grizzlies as Frazier-Barter’s triple was the only hit by Gans.
Brenden Strickland took the loss, only going the first two-thirds of the opening inning. Phoenix Xiong went the next 2.2 innings with five strikeouts.
The Grizzlies will travel to Keota at the end of this week for the best-of-3 series in the Class A-II District Tournament.
