Roland Rangers finish fourth in Central Tiger Shootout
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

The Roland Rangers came in fourth at the Central Tiger Shootout as they lost Saturday afternoon’s third-place game to the archrival Muldrow Bulldogs 10-2 in five innings. They won their openinground game on Thursday, beating Stilwell 3-1, before losing 6-5 in nine innings to Warner in Friday’s championship semifinals.

It was a rough start to the week for the Rangers, who suffered a pair of run-rule District 3A-8 losses to the host Tulsa Holland Hall Dutch on April 8 by scores of 12-0 in five innings and 18-0 in five innings.

In the Central Tiger Shootout third-place game, the Rangers (212) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, only to see the Bulldogs score six runs in their half of the frame for a 6-1 lead after two innings, which became an 8-2 advantage after three innings. A two-run fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Channing McKinney was 2-for-3 for Roland.

Brett Mouldin (0-4) took the loss, going the first 1.2 innings with a strikeout. Derrick Allen went the final 2.1 innings with two strikeouts.

In the Central Tiger Shootout championship semifinals, the Eagles broke a 5-all tie with a run in the ninth inning after the Rangers scored twice in the sixth inning to tie the game at 5-all to force extra innings.

In defeat, Alex Brant was 3-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored, Colton Peters was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, Allen doubled with a run scored and Raesean Perryman doubled and scored once for Roland.

Avery Moya (0-2) was the hard-luck loser, going the final 2.2 innings with two strikeouts but allowing the game-winning run to score in the ninth inning. Brant got the start and went the first six innings with eight Ks.

In the Central Tiger Shootout openinground game, the Rangers broke a scoreless tie with a three-run fifth inning for a 3-0 lead.

For the game, Brant was 3-for-3 with three doubles and an RBI, while McKinney doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Roland.

Hunter Burris (1-1) got his first win of the season, pitching a complete- game five-hitter with nine strikeouts.

In Game 1 against Holland Hall, the Dutch scored one in the third inning and 11 runs in the fifth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

Holland Hall pitcher Carson Ward no-hit the Rangers with seven strikeouts.

Peters (0-3) took the loss as he recorded two strikeouts in five innings.

In the nightcap, the Dutch scored twice in the first inning and 15 runs in the second inning for a 17-0 lead. They added a run in the fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Brant and Erik Garcia each singled for the only hits for the Rangers. Derrick Allen (0-1) suffered the loss.
