It was a short stay for the Gans Grizzlies in last week’s Riverside Conference Baseball Tournament on Thursday in Gore as they lost 12-0 to the sub-host Pirates and then fell 18-0 to Webbers Falls later in the day to be eliminated from the tournament.
In the loss to Gore, Gore pitcher Eli Munson no-hit the Grizzlies (08) for the three-inning complete-game victory. The Pirates scored nine runs in the first inning to put away the game.
Brenden Strickland took the loss for Gans as he only got the first out of the first inning on a strikeout. Phoenix Xiong went the final 1.2 innings.
In the loss to Webbers Falls, the Warriors’ pitching duo of Ryan Cowan and Brutus Robinson combined to one-hit the Grizzlies, with that hit being a single by Jarrett Frazier-Barter. Frazier-Barter took the loss, despite getting three strikeouts in three innings. The Grizzlies made nine errors which led to Webbers Falls getting 16 of their runs unearned.
The Grizzlies found out Friday from the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association that they will be sent to Keota for one of the Class A-II District Tournaments, which will begin April 24-26.
